Marathon Water Co-op
Grants Awarded to the Marathon Water Co-op
2013 Grant: Emergency Power Backup
- $25,000 was awarded for the purchase and installation of a backup generator.
- Purpose: To power the water pump during extended electrical outages, ensuring continued water access.
- Context: In November 2013, a massive ice storm caused a three-day power outage across the Big Bend region. Thanks to the generator funded by the grant, Marathon was the only town in the area with uninterrupted water service during the outage.
